Singapore ZAM ZAM Restaurant – Famous Indian-Muslim Nasi biryani, Murtabak & Roti prata

Zam Zam Singapore

One of the most popular and famous Indian-Muslim restaurants in Singapore.

It was established over 100 years ago, in year 1908, serving great Nasi biryani, Murtabak and Roti prata since.

Zam Zam has 2 storeys, there’s both outdoor and indoor seating on level 1, while level 2 can be more conducive and cooling since it’s air-conditioned.

Even traditional restaurants have evolved to use electric press bells for calling of service.

Since one of the key shout out on their menu is the Murtabak, we can’t miss it. In additional to that, we have also ordered a few ala cart dishes to complete the meal.

1. Mutton Murtabak (Large)

I wouldn’t say this is the best as I have not tried that many to support it, but what I CAN say… this is good stuff!

Out of all the Murtabak I have tried, this is the least oily (yet not too dry) and most generous with filling. The minced mutton was accompanied by overflowing amount of chopped onion, great combination that we insanely love!

2. Chicken Masala

To be honest, I didn’t expect much from this dense-looking piece of meat when it was served onto our table. I kind of imagined myself biting into it – dry and tasteless on the inside with only surface marinate giving some flavours.

I was so wrong… The chicken breast was ultra tender and well seasoned.

This I could say, one of the best chicken breast dish for sure!

3. Beef Masala

The colour of the beef masala reminded me of beef rendang, on the darker side as compared to the chicken masala.

Despite the colour difference, the beef was as tender as the chicken, must be stewed for hours to achieve this hours.

Highly recommend and personally would prefer this over the chicken masala if I could only pick 1 to order.

4. Complementary small plates

Cucumber with chilli sauce? Our first time seeing this combination.

The curry dip went extremely couple with our mutton murtabak.
